The Short-Term Disability (STD) plan
pays benefits
For claims beginning on or after January 1, 2014.
for up to 26 weeks as follows:
  • Phase I (100% of pay) – maximum of 14 weeks
  • Phase II (60% of pay) – maximum of 12 weeks
NOTE: You may not be eligible for disability benefits immediately after hire. Visit benefits.com for the rules.
If your STD benefits run out but you’re still disabled and qualified for benefits, the Long-Term Disability (LTD) plan
begins paying benefits
For claims beginning on or after January 1, 2014.
at 50% of your pre-disability pay. Benefits will continue until your Social Security full retirement age, regardless of your date of hire, as long as you remain disabled.
The lifetime LTD maximum for these claims is
24 months
If you are confined to a hospital or medical facility as a result of a disability related to mental illness, alcoholism or drug addiction at the time your 24-month lifetime maximum ends, you will remain eligible for LTD benefits for the remainder of your confinement and for up to 60 days after discharge, provided you remain disabled during that time.
for all such conditions combined. The 24-month lifetime maximum does NOT include:
  • Disability periods where STD benefits were paid, or
  • Claims that occurred or were established before January 1, 2013.
